5 Ways to Stay Creative This Spring (Without Picking Up a Paintbrush!)

Spring is basically nature’s reset button! Everything is waking up, stretching, blooming, and buzzing. It’s the perfect time to refresh your creativity, even if you’re not in the mood to pull out the paint supplies. Here are five simple, sensory, soul‑filling ways to stay creative this season.

1. Gardening

Instead of planting randomly, try choosing a theme for your garden beds or containers:

  • Pastel Spring

  • Neon Greens + Purples

  • Fairy Pink

  • Moody Forest Tones

  • Or add sculptures in your yard!

It’s like designing a painting… but it grows.

I’m a BIG‑TIME gardener, and my yard is full of thoughtfully curated plants, even edible ones. There’s something magical about working in the soil, watching things sprout, and shaping a living color palette right outside your door. I have also added lots of fun art pieces in my yard like sculptures, both hanging and on the ground. These create fun little moments in your garden.

 2. Cooking

Pick one spring ingredient: strawberries, asparagus, fresh herbs and challenge yourself to:

  • cook it three different ways

  • plate it beautifully

  • pair it with a color or mood

It’s edible creativity.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with asparagus: roasted with lemon and dill, tossed into a breakfast scramble, or shaved raw into a salad. It feels like spring on a plate.

3. Rearrange Something Small (or Big!)

Creativity loves a little disruption. Try:

  • reorganizing a shelf by color or mood

  • restyling a corner of your home

  • curating a tiny “museum exhibit” of objects you love

It’s visual composition without the canvas.

And if you’re feeling bold? Rearrange an entire room. Shift the furniture, swap out throws or pillows, bring in a pop of spring color. Small changes can spark big inspiration.

4. Spring Cleaning (But Make It Creative)

Not just tidying, it’s curating. Try creating:

  • a spring altar with objects that feel fresh

  • a seasonal vignette on a shelf

  • a rotation of art or décor that matches the season

It’s composition practice disguised as cleaning.

I added a lavender garland, candles, and twinkle lights to my living room, and the whole space feels fresh, calm, and happy - like a soft exhale.

5. Create a Spring Soundtrack

Build a playlist that feels like:

  • morning dew

  • blooming flowers

  • warm breezes

  • longer days

Music is a creativity portal.

Lately I’ve been listening to smooth, uplifting tracks from the 60s, 70s, and 80s — Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Bread, Donovan. It gives me those happy, light, positive spring vibes.
